Resume or CV
Your CV gives the prospective employer the first impression on your skills, capacity, and potential. It is therefore extremely important to get it right. Particularly in times of economic turndown like today, your CV is the most valuable asset and selling point for you to enter the job market. And what about your motivation letter? Does it reflect all your capabilities and experience? Cover letter
The cover letter is not necessarily an integral part of your job application in Holland. You can use the passage ‘Personal profile’ in your CV to reflect your experience and objectives.
If the companies requires a cover/ motivation letter it should refer to your present and future plans, showing your prospective employers what you want to do now and what you will do for them in the future.
A cover letter should contain:
- Brief self introduction
- Short description of education, skills and other relevant info
- Closing indicating your contact details
- Use key words!
Chronological CV
A chronological resume is general type of the CV that you upload to a jobboard or send to a recruitment agency as an introduction to your employment experience.

Functional CV
When applying for a specific vacancy we advice to use a functional CV especially if you think of switching careers. It is a resume which you create for the specific function.
